About this route

A magnificent journey up, down and along 178 miles (284 km) of coastline. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path’s hills may not be long, but they are short, steep and plentiful.

For much of the trail you will be ascending or descending as you work your way along the coast and through several small settlements en route.

With the proximity to the sea, there’s plenty of opportunity to spot wildlife, such as seals, birds and more.

Imagine ending each day with a spectacular sunset over the sea and a dinner by the beach.

This route can be run in the opposite direction upon request. Please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Important information

The run between Dale and Milford Haven requires the crossing of two tidal inlets at Pickleridge and Sandy Haven.  Both crossings are sufficiently flooded by the incoming tide to make them impassable at high tide.  Pickleridge can only be safely crossed 3.5 hours either side of low tide and Sandy Haven can only be safely crossed within 2.5 hours either side of low tide.

Careful timing of your arrival at these inlets is therefore necessary to allow sufficient time (up to 2 hours) to run the intervening 5 miles or so of coast between Pickleridge and Sandy Haven before the crossing becomes impassable.   If you miss either there is no alternative crossing and in both cases a substantial 4 mile detour for each crossing is necessary or a long wait of up to 5.5 hours.  Before booking please check here for tide times.

Your Itinerary

This itinerary lists our preferred overnight stops for this tour. Sometimes there may be a shortage of available accommodation in a preferred location, in which case we will transfer you from the trail to your accommodation and back again at no extra charge. Overnight stops marked with a (T) will always require transfers as standard.

Overnight stops marked with an (L) have very limited accommodation, and therefore more often than not will also require a transfer, particularly on bank holidays and weekends. We will use non-transfer accommodation wherever possible.

The daily mileages quoted are average trail miles only and do not include the distance from the trail to your accommodation. We do not expect you to have to travel more than a mile from the trail to your accommodation; should your accommodation be further than this, transfers will be provided as standard.

Below are the additional costs that may apply depending on your requirements. Dog-friendly tours are subject to a Daily Dog Charge, which will be listed below if applicable. Our standard prices per person are based upon two people sharing a room; if you are on your own, or are part of a group but require a room of your own, then the Solo Traveller or Single Supplements apply respectively:

Extra Nights & Rest Days

Adding extra nights into your holiday is highly recommended on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path; not only do they give you chance to rest and recover before continuing on your run, but it also allows you plenty of opportunity to discover hidden gems in the various locations that you might have otherwise missed.

Many people decide to add an extra night or two at the end of the trail in Amroth, a lovely seaside town with friendly pubs and holiday parks. While you are here, be sure to take in the bizarre petrified drowned forest when the tide is very low; the tree stumps themselves can be seen poking through the sand and have been dated back to the last Ice Age. The rest of the wide, sandy beach is perfect for walking or soaking up the sun, as well as being a popular location for swimming and windsurfing. Also nearby is the National Trust's Colby Woodland Gardens, ideal for taking a relaxing stroll and reflecting on the completion of your trail running holiday.

You can add rest days at any of the overnight stops:

£50.00 per person / per night
Extra night (St David's)
