Hadrian's Wall Short Running Break

This condensed trail running holiday is the perfect way to explore the Roman frontier of Hadrian’s Wall even if you only have a few days to spare. Between Chesters Fort in the village of Chollerford and the ruined priory at Lanercost, this short break follows the most dramatic section of Hadrian’s Wall, running in the footsteps of the Roman legionaries.

Hadrian's Wall Short Running Break takes in the most important archaeological dig sites, as well as plenty of excellent scenery, effectively packing this walk with countless discoveries within just a few days. As well as the Roman forts of Chesters, Housesteads, Vindolanda and Birdoswald, this section of the trail also boasts a range of Saxon burial cists, medieval shielings and even the Temple of Mithras, giving keen historians plenty to discover along the way.
